Not all remote jobs are of the same quality.
The majority of remote jobs are not completely remote.
FlexJobs reported that the majority of remote job opportunities, approximately 95%, have restrictions based on the applicant’s location, typically due to employment regulations or tax laws. Surprisingly, despite comprising only 5% of the available positions, “work-from-anywhere jobs” are the preferred option for 76% of the individuals surveyed.
There are not as many companies offering opportunities to “work from anywhere” as before.

How Do Digital Nomads Make a Living?
I have observed digital nomads making a living in three typical ways.
Fully remote employment refers to working as an employee for a company that grants the flexibility to work from any location.
Freelancing involves securing projects or contract work from companies in the capacity of a freelancer.
Self-Employment entails entrepreneurs and virtual business owners who have the freedom to operate their businesses from any location they desire.
In the past 6+ years of being remote, I have lived and traveled in 15 countries. As a digital nomad, I have utilized remote work in all three forms: remote employment, freelancing, and self-employment.
In line with the findings on aspiring nomads, numerous individuals have contacted me, expressing their curiosity about how they too can embrace the nomadic way of life and discover compatible job opportunities.
Where to Live: The Best Places to Work From Anywhere
As remote work becomes more common, several places, both internationally and in the United States, have implemented incentives to attract new residents and enacted work-from-anywhere laws to assist people in moving and living their desired lifestyle. Remote, a company, has recently published a report called Best Destinations for Remote Work, which highlights the top 100 global destinations for remote workers. The report also provides valuable insights into location-specific incentives. Alongside the report, Remote has developed an interactive tool and a database that offers information on numerous cities worldwide. This allows users to customize their rankings of ideal remote work locations based on their personal preferences.
CEO and cofounder of Remote, Job van der Voort, states that workers used to be limited to residing in close proximity to major urban centers in order to take advantage of the top employment prospects. However, with the ability to work remotely from any location, employees now have the freedom to select their desired home or even travel, without having to sacrifice their job opportunities.
The report revealed interesting statistics. The “One Happy Workation” program in Aruba offers the most favorable incentives for digital nomads. In Emilia Romagna, Italy, young families (under 40 years old) can receive a cash incentive of $34,000 to relocate. Topeka, Kansas provides up to $5,000 in rental funds for the first year and up to $10,000 for home purchases as a relocation incentive in the United States. St. Louis, Missouri offers the best housing incentive, allowing individuals to purchase city-owned property for just $1. If you want to avoid paying taxes, remote workers in Cabo Verde are exempt from income tax. Colorado grants employers cash awards for each remote worker employed in an eligible rural county outside of the county where the project is based.

Ways To Find Companies That Let You Work From Anywhere
Rephrasing: Sequentially consider your network.
Many people overlook the fact that they have a large number of contacts in their current network, making it the ideal and highly overlooked place to search for jobs.
Given the intense competition for these jobs, your primary objective should be to obtain a referral or internal sponsorship from within the company.
To systematically approach the task, conduct a network scan to identify individuals employed at these companies and then contact them to arrange an informational interview.
An important tip to keep in mind is that everything you require in life can be found through your weak connections.
Remote job boards are platforms where individuals can find job opportunities that allow them to work from a location outside of their employer’s physical office.
There are several remote job filters available that allow you to sort “work-from-anywhere” jobs and view the specific roles for which they are hiring.
FlexJobs offers an advanced search feature called “Anywhere” that allows users to filter results to show only organizations that offer fully remote positions.
Similarly, WeWorkRemotely, a remote job board that is free to use, offers a tag labeled “Anywhere (100% Remote) Only” that serves the same purpose.
There are numerous remote job boards available, which can be overwhelming. I suggest using only a few and investing in yourself to simplify your search. FlexJobs, a paid remote job search service, is possibly the best choice as it offers extensive options and is reasonably priced.
